<h1>Gross Direct Tax Collections Surge by 30% in FY 2022-23, Economic Recovery and Efficient Tax Processes Cited as Key Factors.</h1> Gross Direct Tax collections for FY 2022-23 have increased by 30%, reaching Rs. 8,36,225 crore, compared to Rs. 6,42,287 crore in FY 2021-22. Net Direct Tax collections grew by 23%, totaling Rs. 7,00,669 crore. Advance Tax collections rose by 17% to Rs. 2,95,308 crore. Corporation Tax and Personal Income Tax, including Securities Transaction Tax, contributed significantly to these figures. The government attributes this growth to economic recovery post-pandemic and improved tax processes. Refunds issued increased by 83% to Rs. 1,35,556 crore, with a notable acceleration in processing income tax returns.
