<h1>India's Merchandise Exports Up 19.7% from April-August 2022; August Trade Deficit Hits USD 27.98 Billion.</h1> India's exports of merchandise and services increased by 19.7% to USD 311.82 billion from April to August 2022 compared to the same period in 2021. Non-petroleum and non-gems jewelry exports rose by 8.5% to USD 135.6 billion. In August 2022, merchandise exports grew by 1.6% to USD 33.9 billion, while imports surged by 37.28% to USD 61.9 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of USD 27.98 billion. Key export growth was seen in tobacco, oil meals, electronic goods, and rice. Overall imports in August 2022 increased by 33.15% to USD 75.84 billion.
