Cabinet Extends PM SVANidhi Scheme to Dec 2024, Boosts Loan Corpus to Rs. 8,100 Crore for Street Vendors.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the extension of the Prime Minister Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme until December 2024. This decision aims to continue providing collateral-free loans to street vendors, increasing the loan corpus from Rs. 5,000 crore to Rs. 8,100 crore. The scheme also enhances digital transaction adoption and socio-economic development for vendors. As of April 2022, 31.9 lakh loans have been sanctioned, with 29.6 lakh loans disbursed, totaling Rs. 2,931 crore. The extension addresses ongoing pandemic-related challenges, ensuring continued access to formal credit and supporting business expansion for approximately 1.2 crore urban vendors.
