Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal has said the Industry has responded well to the multiple interventions by the Government to enhance Local Value Addition which has benefitted not only the large industries but also the MSMEs. Chairing a review meeting of the Steering Committee on Advancing Local value-add & Exports (SCALE), he emphasised that these efforts are leading to greater employment generation in the country.
During the meeting Shri Goyal highlighted the need for exploring innovative ways to increase Local Value Add in critical sectors of Manufacturing amidst existing disruptions in the worldwide value chain. This will enhance the presence of India in emerging global value chains, he added.
Industry and exports representatives from various sectors including Auto Components, White Goods (ACs, Electronics & TV), Semiconductor Manufacturing, Plastics, Furniture, Bicycles & e-cycles, Batteries, Leather & Footwear and Fisheries participated in the deliberations.

Local value addition spurs employment and benefits industries and MSMEs via SCALE committee initiatives to boost manufacturing. Multiple policy interventions to promote Local Value Addition aim to expand domestic manufacturing content and have benefited both large industries and MSMEs while supporting employment. The SCALE review, chaired by the Union Minister, emphasised innovative measures to increase local value-add in key manufacturing sectors amid global value chain disruptions, convening sectoral industry and export representatives and senior DPIIT officials to discuss sector-specific strategies, public-private coordination, supply chain resilience, and export promotion.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
