Indian Government Approves Rs. 1,500 Crore Infusion into IREDA to Boost Renewable Energy and Create 10,200 Jobs Annually.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved an equity infusion of Rs. 1,500 crore into the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA). This investment is expected to generate approximately 10,200 jobs annually and reduce CO2 emissions by about 7.49 million tonnes per year. The additional funding will enable IREDA to lend approximately Rs. 12,000 crore to the renewable energy sector, supporting an additional capacity of 3,500-4,000 MW. It will also enhance IREDA's net worth and improve its capital-to-risk weighted assets ratio, thereby facilitating further lending and borrowing operations in the renewable energy sector.
