<h1>India's Mobile Phone Exports Surge from $0.2B to $1.7B; Imports Drop Amid Government Manufacturing Boosts.</h1> Exports of mobile phones from India increased significantly from USD 0.2 billion in 2017-18 to USD 1.7 billion in 2021, while imports decreased from USD 3.5 billion to USD 0.5 billion during the same period. The Indian government has implemented several initiatives to boost domestic manufacturing and exports of electronics, including mobile phones. These include the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for electronics and IT hardware, the Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors, and the Modified Electronics Manufacturing Clusters under the National Policy on Electronics, 2019. Additionally, 100% FDI is allowed under the automatic route for electronics manufacturing.
