<h1>Digital Transactions Surge: Over 4 Lakh Crore in 2020-21; No MDR on RuPay and BHIM-UPI Payments.</h1> Digital payments in the country have significantly increased over the past three financial years, as highlighted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The volume of digital transactions rose from 2,32,602 lakh in 2018-19 to 4,37,445 lakh in 2020-21. The Reserve Bank of India has allowed Scheduled Commercial Banks to set their service charges, provided they remain reasonable and transparent to customers. Additionally, from January 1, 2020, no Merchant Discount Rate charges apply on payments made through RuPay Debit card, BHIM-UPI, and BHIM-UPI QR Code, enhancing digital transaction affordability.
