The recruitment process for appointment of 248 new Patent Examiners has been completed.
The increase in the number of patent examiners by 248 will help in clearing the backlog of pending patent applications as these examiners are together expected to examine about 30,000 more applications per year.
This information was given by Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.

Patent examiner recruitment increases examination capacity to reduce backlog and accelerate patent application processing nationwide for timely decisions.
