Shri Goyal attends interactive session with the stakeholders of the Tea Industry and Laghu Udyog Bharati
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Sri Piyush Goyal, today participated in the 'Janajati Gaurav Divas' organized by Kalyan Ashram, held at Haryana Bhawan, Guwahati.

During his speech, at the Janajati Gaurav Divas, the Minister highlighted the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on uplifting the tribal population in the country. The Union Minister apprised that these initiatives have been organised to provide a platform for the tribal communities to present their talent in various fields and lay out a roadmap for their all-round development. The Minister also praised different artifacts made by the tribal population in the country.
The week-long celebration is dedicated to tribal communities of India, which commenced on November 15th and continues across the country with full enthusiasm and throws light on different colours of tribal culture, informed the Union Minister. Shri Goyal stated that 15th November, is the birth anniversary of the legendary tribal freedom fighter, Bhagwan Birsa Munda and will be celebrated every year as ‘Janajatiya Gaurav Divas’ and therefore, programmes are being organised across the country to honour the legacy of the tribal freedom fighters, who till now have remained the unsung heroes of our freedom struggle.
Industries and Commerce Minister of Assam, Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary and Rangia MLA, Shri Bhabesh Kalita were also present at the event.

Later today, the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri Goyal had an interactive session with the Stakeholders of the Tea Industry and Laghu Udyog Bharati, NER held at Kiranshree Grand, Guwahati.
During the interaction with the Stakeholders, he raised various issues regarding the tea industry especially in Assam. The issues included MSP for tea leaves, different agricultural benefits for the small tea growers, higher number of large-scale bidders at the tea auction etc. were highlighted. The Union Minister thoroughly discussed the issues with the participants and assured appropriate measures.
Organized by the Tea Board of India, the interactive session also witnessed the presence of Assam Industry Minister Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary.
Tribal upliftment platform announced with annual Janajatiya Gaurav Divas and commitments to tea grower support. The minister described initiatives as a platform for tribal talent and endorsed annual commemoration of 15th November as Janajatiya Gaurav Divas to honour tribal freedom fighters, and separately engaged tea industry stakeholders on proposals for a Minimum Support Price for tea leaves, expanded benefits for small tea growers, and measures to increase large-scale participation at tea auctions, indicating that appropriate measures would be considered.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
