DRI Seizes 55.61 kg of Gold Worth Rs. 28 Crore, Cracking Myanmar-India Smuggling Ring in Delhi and Lucknow.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 55.61 kg of foreign gold worth Rs. 28 crore from eight individuals in Delhi and Lucknow, disrupting a Myanmar-India gold smuggling network. This operation, named 'Golden Triangle,' revealed smugglers' shift from vehicle to human concealment, with gold hidden in waist belts. The DRI's ongoing vigilance has led to multiple significant seizures, including 51.33 kg in November 2020 and larger quantities earlier that year. The recent success highlights the DRI's intensified efforts against smuggling following COVID-19 lockdowns. The Minister of State for Finance commended the DRI's achievements and encouraged further actions.
