<h1>India's WTO Trade Policy Review Highlights Economic Reforms, COVID-19 Response, and FDI Policy Improvements.</h1> India's seventh Trade Policy Review at the World Trade Organization began on January 6, 2021, in Geneva. Members praised India's efforts to enhance trade and economic policies inclusively and sustainably. The Commerce Secretary highlighted India's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including advocating for a temporary waiver of certain TRIPS provisions. India has undertaken significant reforms, such as the Goods and Services Tax and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, improving its Doing Business ranking. The WTO Secretariat acknowledged India's strong economic growth and reforms, while members appreciated India's liberalized FDI policy and trade facilitation measures. Discussions will continue on January 8, 2021.
