Union Minister Details Role of Export Promotion Councils in Boosting Indian Exports; Annual Performance Reviews Submitted to Parliament.
Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) are organizations established under the Societies Registration Act or Companies Act to promote Indian exports. They focus on specific product groups as outlined in the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020. Fourteen EPCs are affiliated with the Department of Commerce, including those for chemicals, cashews, leather, and pharmaceuticals. Regular meetings are held to facilitate exporter interactions and assess council performance. Their accounts undergo mandatory audits, and performance reviews are submitted to Parliament annually. This information was provided by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
