<h1>New App Maps 99.8% of Villages with Nearby Banking, Boosts Financial Access Under Jan-Dhan Yojana.</h1> The government has introduced the Jan Dhan Darshak app, developed by the National Informatics Centre, to ensure banking facilities are available within 5 kilometers of all inhabited villages. According to the app, 99.8% of the 5.53 lakh mapped villages have a bank branch or Business Correspondent nearby. The Reserve Bank of India permits domestic Scheduled Commercial Banks to open outlets without prior approval, provided 25% are in unbanked rural areas. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, villages are mapped into Sub-Service Areas, with banks deploying branches or Business Correspondents to cover these areas.
