CBIC Enhances CRCL with New Tech for Faster Customs Processing; NABL Accreditation Achieved; Promotes Contactless Operations.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has introduced new testing equipment and IT functionalities to enhance the capabilities of the Central Revenues Control Laboratory (CRCL) and promote Contactless Customs. The upgrades, costing approximately Rs. 80 crores, include state-of-the-art equipment for faster import and export clearances. Eight CRCL laboratories have received NABL accreditation for chemical and forensic testing. The new IT functionalities allow exporters to manage bank details and register on ICEGATE independently. Additionally, automated bond debiting in ICES will eliminate the need for manual processing. Turant Suvidha Kendras will be established as the sole physical interface for document submissions.
