This progress is attributed to the State Reform Action Plan initiated by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in 2014. The plan requires States and Union Territories to implement a Single Window System for online application submissions, eliminating physical documentation and enabling real-time tracking and notifications. By 2017-18, 21 States/UTs had adopted this system. The 2019 plan further mandates online Information Wizards and streamlined processes for construction permits.
