<h1>Indian Constitution Amendment Extends Reservation for Scheduled Castes and Tribes in Parliament to 80 Years Under Article 334.</h1> The Constitution (One Hundred and Fourth Amendment) Act, 2019, received presidential assent on January 21, 2020, and came into effect on January 25, 2020. This amendment modifies Article 334 of the Indian Constitution, extending the reservation of seats and special representation in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes from seventy to eighty years. The amendment was ratified by more than half of the state legislatures, as required.
