Withdrawal of Press Note No. 17 (1984 Series)

The Press Note No. 17 (1984) series regarding Environmental clearance of Industrial Licence- conditions of Letter of Intent/Industrial Licence, relates to pre-1991 period. After the Industrial Policy Resolution 1991, and considering various amendments made to Notification No. 477(E) dated 25^th July, 1991 only the following four Industries are covered under compulsory licensing:

i. Cigars and Cigarettes of tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes

ii. Electronic aerospace and defence equipment

iii. Industrial Explosives

iv. Hazardous chemicals

Compulsory licensing confined to four industry categories; prior industrial-licence environmental clearance press note withdrawn. Only four industry categories remain subject to Compulsory Licensing-cigars and cigarettes (tobacco and substitutes), electronic aerospace and defence equipment, industrial explosives, and hazardous chemicals-and because the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade no longer issues industrial licences outside those categories, the earlier press note on environmental clearance conditions for industrial licences is withdrawn as irrelevant.
