India Sends First Trial Shipment of 10 Tonnes Chausa Mangoes to Italy by Sea to Boost Exports.
A trial shipment of 10 tonnes of Chausa mangoes from Lucknow, India, to Italy was initiated on July 15, 2019, to boost North Indian exports. The shipment, supported by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, was sent via sea to reduce costs. This initiative followed the first international Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet in Lucknow. The mangoes were transported by road to Pipavav Port, Gujarat, before heading to Italy via Spain, taking approximately 20-22 days. Sea freight costs significantly less than air freight, addressing logistical challenges in exporting from Uttar Pradesh.
