<h1>62 SEZ Proposals Approved in Karnataka; 31 Now Operational in Key Cities Like Bangalore and Mysore.</h1> A total of 62 proposals for establishing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Karnataka have received formal approval under the SEZ Act, 2005. Currently, 51 SEZs are notified, with 31 operational. No proposals have been made to designate areas in Chikkodi as an SEZ. The initiative is primarily driven by private investment. Notable operational SEZs include those developed by major IT and industrial companies across various locations in Karnataka, such as Bangalore, Mysore, and Mangalore, focusing on IT/ITES, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and engineering sectors. The information was disclosed by the Minister of Commerce and Industry in a Lok Sabha session.
