CBDT Finalizes 18 Advance Pricing Agreements in March 2019, Enhancing Tax Clarity with Australia, Netherlands, and USA.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) signed 18 Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) in March 2019, including 3 Bilateral APAs (BAPAs), bringing the total for 2018-19 to 52, with 11 BAPAs. Overall, CBDT has entered into 271 APAs, including 31 BAPAs. The March BAPAs involved treaty partners from Australia, the Netherlands, and the USA, covering sectors like anti-friction bearings, risk management, BPO, IT/ITeS, and more. These agreements address international transactions such as contract manufacturing, software development, and royalty payments. The APA scheme supports a non-adversarial tax regime, gaining national and international recognition for resolving complex transfer pricing issues effectively.
