For the first time, the allocation for the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in the Budget has exceeded ₹ 1 lakh crores. The Interim Budget 2019-20 was presented by the Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs, Railways & Coal, Shri Piyush Goyal in Parliament today. The MHA has been allocated ₹ 1,03,927 crores. This is ₹ 10,477 crore more than the Budget allocated for the MHA last year.  As per the Revised Estimates for 2018-19, the MHA expenditure has been pegged at 99,034 crores:

Budget allocation for Ministry of Home Affairs increases, boosting police modernisation, border programmes and disaster relief funding. The Interim Budget 2019-20 allocates Rs 1,03,927 crore to the Ministry of Home Affairs, increasing year on year and funding central schemes including Modernisation of Police Forces, Police Infrastructure, Border Infrastructure and Management, Border Area Development, Relief and Rehabilitation for migrants and repatriates, Freedom Fighters' pensions, and the Mission for Protection and Empowerment of Women, alongside elevated transfers to States and UTs via the National Disaster Response Fund and grant in aid for State Disaster Response Funds.
