Indian Government Supports Farmers with PM-KISAN Income, Cow Welfare Initiatives, and New Fisheries Department.
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) program was introduced to provide direct income support of Rs. 6,000 annually to small and marginal farmers with up to 2 hectares of cultivable land. This initiative, benefiting approximately 12 crore farmer families, will be funded by the Indian government, with payments made in three installments. Additionally, the government increased funding for the Rashtriya Gokul Mission and established the Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog for cow welfare. A separate Department of Fisheries was also created, offering interest subvention benefits to those in animal husbandry and fisheries. Farmers affected by natural calamities will receive extended interest subvention benefits on rescheduled crop loans.
