India-South Korea CEPA Talks Focus on Sugar Export Opportunities, Indian Delegation Engages with South Korean Refineries.
The 7th round of negotiations for the India-South Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) took place in South Korea from December 11-13, 2018. Concurrently, a delegation from the Indian sugar industry engaged in discussions with South Korean sugar refineries, facilitated by the Indian Embassy in Seoul. South Korea imports approximately 1.5 million tonnes of raw sugar annually, and the Indian sugar industry aims to export to South Korea during the 2018-19 season. Positive discussions occurred, contingent on meeting South Korean quality standards, with plans for further talks to advance potential sugar exports.
