of <h1>Government Expands Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to Include Previously Excluded Poor Families for LPG Connections.</h1> The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by the Prime Minister, approved the expansion of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to include poor families previously excluded from receiving LPG connections. These families were not listed in the Socio-Economic Caste Census or the seven identified categories, including SC/ST households and beneficiaries of various government schemes. Eligible families will now receive deposit-free LPG connections, with the government providing financial assistance and interest-free loans. Since its launch in May 2016, PMUY has distributed over 5.86 crore LPG connections, with 48% going to SC/ST beneficiaries, earning praise from the World Health Organization for promoting clean energy use.
