The first 100-tonne shipment was sent from Nagpur in September. After inspections in May, 19 mills were initially registered for export. A memorandum of understanding was signed in June to amend phytosanitary requirements, allowing non-basmati rice exports. India aims to export up to 1 million tonnes of rice to China, the largest global rice importer. Additionally, China lifted a ban on Indian rapeseed meal imports, previously valued at USD 161 million annually, as part of efforts to reduce tariffs on certain imports from Asia.
