Cumulatively, exports for April-May 2011-12 reached $49,790.60 million, a 45.28% rise from the previous year. Imports in May 2011 were $40,906.95 million, a 54.08% increase from May 2010, with cumulative imports for April-May 2011-12 at $73,741.31 million, up 33.30%. Oil imports rose by 18.57% in May 2011, while non-oil imports increased by 71.0%. The trade deficit for April-May 2011-12 was $23,950.71 million, higher than the previous year's $21,046.59 million.
