<h1>CSR Spending Rises to Rs. 13,625 Crores in 2015-16, Education and Livelihood Initiatives Top Funding Sectors.</h1> In the fiscal year 2015-16, companies reported a total Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure of Rs. 13,625.25 crores, an increase from Rs. 9,553.72 crores in 2014-15. The sectors receiving the most CSR funds were education, differently-abled support, and livelihood initiatives, totaling Rs. 4,647.67 crores. Health, hunger eradication, and sanitation also received significant funding. The number of companies required to spend on CSR rose from 8,924 in 2014-15 to 10,547 in 2015-16. However, many companies did not meet their CSR obligations. The data was provided by the Minister of State for Corporate Affairs in response to a parliamentary query.
