<h1>Union Cabinet Approves 15th Finance Commission, Meeting Article 280(1) Requirement for Fiscal Recommendations Starting 2020.</h1> The Union Cabinet, led by the Prime Minister, has approved the establishment of the 15th Finance Commission, fulfilling a constitutional requirement under Article 280(1). This commission will provide recommendations for a five-year period starting April 1, 2020. Historically, a new Finance Commission is set up every five years, following the expiration of the previous commission's recommendations. The 14th Finance Commission, established in January 2013, submitted its report in December 2014, with its recommendations valid until the 2019-20 financial year. The Terms of Reference for the 15th Finance Commission will be announced later.
