FM to Inaugurate Annual Conference of Chief Commissioners and Directors General of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax Tomorrow; Revenue Mobilisation, GST and Managing Innovations Efficiently to Dominate the Two Days Conference
The All India Annual Conference of the Chief Commissioners and Directors General of Customs , Central Excise and Service Tax will be held at Vigyan Bhawan , New Delhi on 8th and 9th June, 2011. The Union Finance Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the Conference on 8th June, 2011 while Minister of State for Finance Shri S.S. Palanimanickam will preside over the valedictory function on 9th June, 2011.
The two day Conference will deliberate in parallel sessions through four breakaway groups of Chief Commissioners and Directors General on contemporaneous issues relevant to indirect tax administration which are necessary to lay down a road map for efficacious governance. These are:
• Revenue Mobilization and Key Results Areas -Action Plan
• Goods and Services Tax- Practical aspects
• Managing Innovations Efficiently—IT Vision, 2020
• Promoting Two Way Coordination – A Field’s Perspective
Eminent speakers Dr. Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India and Dr. Kaushik Basu, Chief Economic Advisor will address the participating officers during the Conference. The Conference shall also provide a platform for the Chief Commissioners and Directors General to discuss various technical issues and share best practices in an open house on 9th June, 2011.
