<h1>SBI Blocks 600,000 Cards After Fraud Complaints; RBI Initiates Independent Investigation and Enhances Cyber Security Measures.</h1> State Bank of India (SBI) has blocked approximately 600,000 cards following complaints from 73 cardholders about fraud totaling Rs. 39.18 lakhs as of November 4, 2016. SBI asserts its systems are secure, and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is conducting an independent investigation through a forensic auditor. RBI has established a Cyber Security and IT Examination Cell and issued a circular on cyber security best practices for banks. It also conducts cyber security preparedness testing and has formed a Cyber Crisis Management Group to handle major incidents. An IT Subsidiary focuses on cyber security within RBI and regulated entities.
