The Lok Sabha has been informed that the limit of annual family income for eligibility for pre and post- matric scholarships for minorities is Rs.1 lakh and Rs.2 lakh respectively. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Shri Vincent H. Pala, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, said that this income limit has been decided for the Eleventh Five Year Plan period and at present there is no proposal to prescribe common income limit for minorities.

Income eligibility limits for minority matric scholarships set; no single unified income ceiling proposed. Eligibility for minority scholarships is governed by separate family income ceilings for pre-matric and post-matric awards, determined for the Eleventh Five Year Plan period and functioning as administrative criteria; no proposal exists to establish a single unified income ceiling for all minority scholarship schemes.
