Shri R.P.N.Singh, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply that Competition Commission of India (CCI) has started its statutory functioning. He informed that Section 3 and 4 of the Competition Act, 2002, relating to Anti-Competitive Agreement and Abuse of Dominant position have been notified and came into force with effect from 20th May, 2009.

The Minister further informed the House that during the period 01-01-2010 to 31-12-2010, 96 cases have been registered and 43 cases have been disposed off, he said.

Anti-Competitive Agreement and Abuse of Dominant Position notified, enabling Competition Commission to exercise statutory jurisdiction. Notification of Anti-Competitive Agreement and Abuse of Dominant Position provisions took effect on 20 May 2009, enabling the Competition Commission to exercise investigatory and enforcement functions; in 2010 the Commission registered 96 matters and disposed of 43 matters.
