Cabinet Extends IDEA Scheme for 2010-2015, Offering $8.5 Billion in Concessional Loans for Global Development Projects.
The Indian Development and Economic Assistance (IDEA) Scheme has been extended by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) for 2010-11 to 2014-15, targeting both African and non-African countries. The scheme, managed by the Export and Import Bank of India (Exim Bank), provides concessional Lines of Credit (LoCs) for developmental projects recommended by the Ministry of External Affairs. These LoCs, totaling $8,500 million over five years, are backed by sovereign guarantees and include interest subsidies funded by the Indian government. The initiative aims to promote India's strategic interests and enhance its international image.
