Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) provision of the Companies Act, 2013 came into force from 1st April, 2014. The year 2014-15 was the first year of implementation of CSR by companies under the legislation. During this year, a total of 460 listed companies which have placed annual CSR returns on their websites, have spent about ₹ 6337 crores on CSR, as summarised below:

Corporate Social Responsibility obligations require companies to report and allocate spending to prescribed development activities under the Act. Corporate Social Responsibility obligations under the Companies Act, 2013 took effect 1 April 2014 and in FY 2014-15 reporting companies disclosed aggregate CSR expenditure by company type and an activity-wise allocation across Schedule VII categories, providing a detailed distribution of how statutory CSR resources were allocated among prescribed subjects such as health, education, environment, rural development, arts and sports.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
