<h1>August 2015: Core Industries Index Rises by 2.6% with Notable Growth in Fertilizers and Decline in Steel Production.</h1> The Index of Eight Core Industries, which constitutes about 38% of the Index of Industrial Production, rose to 169.6 in August 2015, marking a 2.6% increase from August 2014. From April to August 2015-16, the cumulative growth was 2.2%. Coal production saw a 0.4% increase, crude oil 5.6%, natural gas 3.7%, refinery products 5.8%, and fertilizers 12.6%. However, steel production declined by 5.9%. Cement production rose by 5.4%, and electricity generation increased by 5.6% during the same period.
