Planning, development and control of and assistance to the industries, other than those dealt with by any Department is under the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion.

Consumer Industry Section of Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion is dealing with the Policy issues in respect of the items mentioned below. To formulate any Policy or making any decision on a specific item, the concerned Manufacturers' Associations/Federations are consulted and the decision is taken only after taking into account the views of these Associations/Federations .

However, it is being observed since a long time, that the letters sent by DIPP to some of these Association/Federations are not delivered and returned back to the Department. The reason for this may be that their addresses may not be updated in their website.

All the Associations/Federations manufacturing the items mentioned below and who wish to interact with DIPP may send their name and updated addresses along with the contact numbers, e.mail & fax numbers to DIPP at the earliest to include their names for future correspondences at the following address:

1. Cigars & Cigarettes of tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes.

2. Paints/Varnishes (including Enamels & Lacquers), Synthetic resins etc.

3. Printing Ink, writing or Drawing Ink and other Inks (whether or not concentrated or solid).

4. Cosmetics & Toilet preparations - shampoos, hair oil, hair dyes, hair fixers etc., for oral or dental hygiene including denture fixative pastes and powers, dental floss in individual retail package pre-shave or aftershave preparations, deodorants, bath oil, anti perspirants.

5. Soaps and Detergents etc.

6. Preparations for perfuming or deodorizing rooms including Agarbatti, Depilatories Sterile contact lens care solution.

7. Candles, Tapers and the like - Tapes - All types of adhesive tapes, paper tapes.

8. Photographic Raw Films and Papers- Photographic Amateur Films, Photographic Printing Papers and X-Ray Films, Photographic Plats, Paper Board & Textiles exposed but not developed etc.

9. Wood & Plywood - Furniture components Bobbins, Shutters, Bamboo Sticks, veneer sheets for match boxes and match splints, sheets for plywood, particle Board, Fiber Board, Laminated wood, packing cases of wood, mats, matting and screens of vegetable materials etc.

10. Matches (organized Sector Units only).

11. Umbrella - Sun & Garden-Fittings of Umbrella including Frames, Ribs other parts etc.

12. Glass & Glassware products.

13. Imitation Jewellery whether or not plated with precious metal bangles, German silver jewelers, jewellery studded with imitation pearls or imitation or synthetic stones.

14. Tin Containers, Packaging material etc. excluding Plastic packaging material and aseptic packaging Trunks and cases, Tin Plate Containers, containers for liquid fuels and parts.

15. Utensils- Pans of cast/galvanized iron, enameled, of steel, Ghamellas etc.

16. Pressure Cooker/Oil Pressure Stoves.

17. Cutlery - Spoons, Forks, Ladles, Cake-Server, Fish Knives, Butter-Knives, Sugar Tongs and similar kitchen or tableware, sets of assorted articles placated with precious metal or at least one article plated with precious metal.

24. Buttons, Press-Fasteners, Snap-fasteners, Slide fasteners, Zip fasteners etc.

25. Stationery items- Ball Point Pens, Markers, Fountain Pens, Pen Holdrs, Propelling or Sliding Pencils, Refills for ball point pens, Nibs, Crayons, Patels, Drawing Charcoals, writing or tailors' chalks, Stamps etc.

26. Ribbons Typewriter/computer, Ink-pads etc.

27. Cigarette Lighters- Mechanical or Electrical, Smoking pipes and cigar or cigarette holders and parts.

28. Educational & Mechanical Toys Video Game Consoles & Machines, Articles for Funfair, Table or Parlour Games, including Pintables, Billiards, games operated by coins, playing cards, carom Board magical equipment, snow-skis, sailboards, Golf clubs and other equipment, Balls, Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Lawn-Tennis or similar rackets, Boxing equipment Sports net, Fishing Rods, Fish-hooks etc.

29. Vaccum Flask and other Vacuum Vessels, complete with cases, parts hereof other than Glass Inners.

Association address updation: submit updated contact details to enable departmental correspondence and inclusion in policy consultations. The Consumer Industry Section of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion requests that manufacturers' Associations/Federations representing the listed consumer-item sectors send their name and updated postal address, telephone, fax and email to the Department at the specified office and official to ensure delivery of departmental correspondence and inclusion in future policy consultations.
