These counters aim to assist taxpayers with salary or pension income not exceeding Rs. 5 lakhs in filing paper returns. E-filing is mandatory for those with income over Rs. 5 lakhs or claims for refunds. However, taxpayers over 80 years old with salary or pension income can file paper returns regardless of income. Special facilitation counters for senior citizens and differently-abled persons will be available, along with various support services at the venue. Similar setups will be arranged in other major cities.
