<h1>CBEC Wins Prime Minister's Award for IT Initiative Enhancing Tax Services and Boosting Transparency and Efficiency.</h1> The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) received the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration for 2012-13, recognizing its Information Technology Consolidation Initiative. This initiative, implemented by the Directorate of Systems, established a centralized IT infrastructure for hosting e-services related to Customs, Central Excise, and Service Tax. The project improved service delivery, transparency, and efficiency, supporting over 25 lakh registered taxpayers. It facilitated online services such as registration, e-payment, and document tracking, and generated significant tax revenue. The infrastructure also hosts CBEC's e-commerce portals and website, receiving around 3 billion hits annually, and supports extensive email communication.
