The railways transported 1,097.57 million tonnes of freight, marking a 4.18% rise from the prior year. Key contributors included coal, generating Rs. 48,372.81 crore from 545.63 million tonnes, cement at Rs. 9,181.64 crore from 110.17 million tonnes, and iron ore at Rs. 7,913.73 crore from 112.78 million tonnes. Other significant revenues came from food grains, petroleum, pig iron, fertilizers, raw materials for steel plants, container services, and other goods.
