Prime Minister in his statement at the 12th ASEAN –India Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on 12 November, 2014 spoke about Government of India’s renewed emphasis, inter-alia, on infrastructure, manufacturing, trade, agriculture, skill development, urban renewal and smart cities. He also spoke about the ‘Make in India’ campaign and invited ASEAN Member States to invest in India.
All the ASEAN Member States spoke about enhancement of trade and investment relations with India.
No Agreement was signed with the ASEAN countries in respect of the investment or trade between India and ASEAN countries during the Summit.
This information was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
Foreign investment invitation: focus on infrastructure and manufacturing, but no bilateral investment agreement concluded.
