Indo-Chile Trade Agreement Ratified: Tariff Concessions on Key Goods to Boost Bilateral Trade Growth.
The Indo-Chile Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) has been ratified following the Chilean President's visit to India. This agreement, originally signed the previous year, offers tariff concessions between 10% to 50% on various goods. Chile's concessions to India include agricultural products, chemicals, textiles, and industrial goods, while India's concessions to Chile cover meat, fish, copper, and paper products. Chile is a significant trading partner for India in Latin America, with bilateral trade growing from $163.68 million in 1996-97 to $582.60 million in 2005-06. The PTA aims to further boost this trade relationship.
