From now on, savings account holders in six major metro cities will have three free transactions per month at other bank ATMs, reduced from five. This change does not affect no-frills accounts or transactions outside these metros. Banks must offer at least five free transactions monthly at their own ATMs, with any additional transactions incurring a charge up to Rs. 20 plus taxes. Banks are encouraged to inform customers about transaction limits and potential charges to minimize grievances.
