Goods imported as cargo are subject to applicable customs duties unless exempt. At Indira Gandhi International Airport, customs duty collected over three years was Rs. 1417.66 lakh (2011-12), Rs. 1095.02 lakh (2012-13), and Rs. 2232.51 lakh (2013-14). LEDs under tariff heading 8541 are exempt from basic customs duty but incur 10% CVD and 4% SAD, along with education cesses. No reports of passenger cheating by customs officials have been noted.
