The Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley will inaugurate two-day Annual Conference of Principal Chief Commissioners, Principal Director Generals, Chief Commissioners and Director Generals of Income Tax on Monday, 21st July, 2014. This would be the 30th Annual Conference of Heads of the Income Tax Department. The major focus during the two day annual Conference would be on the accountability of Assessing Officers, Non-filers Monitoring System, Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence, Role of Directorate of I&CI in Changing Scenario, Search, Seizure and Surveys – Study of Effectiveness among others.
One of the Technical Sessions will be addressed by Shri Harish Salve, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India. Besides it, in this two day Annual Conference on 21st and 22nd July, 2014, the Heads of different wings of Direct Taxes in the country will discuss the Strategies for revenue collection, Revenue Audit, Transfer Pricing issues in Business Restructuring involving Multinational Corporations, International Taxation including Taxation of composite contracts and arrear management among others.
The Valedictory Address on 22nd July, 2014 will be made by Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Finance. She will also release a Handbook on ‘Effective Handling of Cases before Settlement Commission’ on that occasion.
Accountability of Assessing Officers drives conference agenda, focusing on compliance, data analytics, transfer pricing and settlement guidance. The conference focuses on strengthening tax administration through accountability of Assessing Officers, Non-filers Monitoring System, Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence, and the role of the Directorate of I&CI.
