The Union Finance Minister, Shri Arun Jaitley while presenting his maiden budget announced Kisan TV, dedicated to the interests of the agriculture and allied sector will be launched in the current financial year. This will disseminate real time information to the farmers regarding new farming techniques, water conservation, organic and farming etc.

The Finance Minister for this purpose allocated a sum of ₹ 100 crore in the General Budget 2014-15.

Dedicated agricultural channel announced to provide real-time farming advisories and conservation guidance to farmers through state-supported broadcast. A Kisan TV channel will be established as a dedicated broadcast service to disseminate real time information to farmers on farming techniques, water conservation and organic practices, supported by a budget allocation to enable launch and initial operations in the current financial year.
