The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs. 20 denomination Banknotes incorporating ' Rs. ' symbol, with inset letter 'E', in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 bearing the signature of Dr. Raghuram G. Rajan, Governor , Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing '2014' printed on the reverse of the banknote.
The design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the Rs. 20 Banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series- 2005, issued earlier.
All the Banknotes in the denomination of Rs. 20 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.
Ajit Prasad
Assistant General Manager
Rupee symbol adoption on banknote denomination updates circulation design; existing notes remain legal tender without change. Issuance of banknotes in the specified denomination will incorporate the national Rupee symbol with inset letter E, bear the incumbent Governor's signature and the year of printing on the reverse, and otherwise follow the design specifications of the existing series; all previously issued banknotes of the same denomination continue to retain legal tender status.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
