The Government of India has minted the above mentioned coins which the Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation.

Details regarding design, shape, etc. of these coins have been notified in the following Gazette of the Government of India, dated December 18, 2013 published by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs -

These coins are legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act 2011. The existing coins in this denomination shall also continue to be legal tender.

Legal tender status confirmed for newly issued commemorative coins; circulation authorized and existing denomination coins remain valid. Commemorative coins will be placed into circulation by the national monetary authority; design and specifications were notified in the official Gazette, and the coins are declared legal tender under the Coinage Act 2011 while existing coins of the same denomination continue to remain legal tender.
