<h1>Customs and Excise revenues show strong growth in August 2007; Service Tax revenue surges by 36.4% in July.</h1> Provisional data for August 2007 indicates a growth in Customs and Central Excise revenue compared to August 2006. Customs revenue increased by 17.5% for the month and 18.7% for the year-to-date, while Excise revenue rose by 9.0% for the month and 6.3% year-to-date. Combined, the total revenue grew by 12.8% for the month and 11.9% year-to-date. Service Tax revenue, reported up to July 2007, showed a significant increase of 36.4% for the month and 38.5% year-to-date compared to the previous year. Overall, the total revenue for July 2007 rose by 12.3% from July 2006.
