The Union Finance Minister Shri P. Chidambaram released the Budget Manual in Hindi here today. It is for the First time that Budget Manual has been prepared in Hindi by the Finance Ministry. The Budget Manual in Hindi is a comprehensive 266 page document which captures the content of the Union Budget as well as the procedures and activities connected with the preparation of the Annual Budget. The processes and guidelines have been simplified and put in a logical sequence for easy comprehension. The Budget related instructions and guidelines were till now available in the form of executive instructions and guidelines etc. These, however, did not cover many facets of the Budget making process. There was, therefore, a felt need for a comprehensive manual to bring together the entire Budget related features and activities. This Manual unravels the detailed processes involved in Budget preparation.

Dr Arvind Mayaram, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Dr Rajat Bhargava, Joint Secretary (Budget), Shri Amarnath, Director (OL) and Shri B.M Sexana, Manager (Budget Press) were also present on this occasion along with other officers of the Ministry.

Budget preparation procedures consolidated: Hindi Budget Manual simplifies and unifies annual budget guidelines and operational processes. Release of a Hindi Budget Manual consolidates and systematises the procedures and instructions governing preparation of the Union Annual Budget, bringing together executive instructions and guidelines into a single comprehensive reference that simplifies processes and sets out the detailed operational steps for budget formulation.
