The Fourteenth Finance Commission has noted the news item appearing in some sections of the media regarding seeking extension of its term. The report is entirely baseless and misleading. The Commission is continuously reviewing the progress of its work, including consultations with State Governments and other stakeholders. The Commission is confident that the report will be submitted before October 31, 2014 as stipulated in the Presidential notification of January 2, 2013. The question, therefore, of seeking extension does not arise.
Mandated deadline compliance: finance commission denies seeking extension and affirms it will submit the report on time. The Commission rejects media reports of seeking an extension as baseless, confirms ongoing progress reviews and stakeholder consultations, and reiterates its intent to meet the mandated deadline for submitting the report as specified in the presidential notification, framing the statement as administrative assurance of timely fulfilment of its reporting obligation.Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
